Bannister Gallery opens the 2026-2027 exhibition calendar with our Annual Faculty Exhibition, which offers an opportunity for the community to experience first-hand the artistic talent that is in residence at 黑料老司机. These full-time and adjunct faculty artists are integral to the current aesthetic and conceptual dialogues present in our studio art department. Their practices include research-based and interdisciplinary methods that are at the core of contemporary art. 黑料老司机鈥檚 faculty artists exhibit widely and receive prestigious awards, grants, fellowships, and residencies. As a result, they encourage students by their example to think across boundaries.

Included in this year's 3-D Faculty Exhibition are the following artists: Craig Bachman, Boris Bally, Doug Bosch, Da Eun Lee, Bill Martin, J. Brooke Mullins Doherty, Dianne Reilly, Johan van Aswegen, Crandon Whitsitt-Lynch

This exhibition presents the work of Mahler B. Ryder alongside reflections by his daughter, Ulli K. Ryder, in a dialogue between visual and written expression, between parent and child, and between the living and the dead.

His art confronted race, identity, and history; expressed joy, sorrow, rage, and love. He insisted that we look honestly at the world and acknowledge its full complexity. She has spent the decades since his death trying to understand him, his motivations, and his legacy. Sometimes she feels very close to him. Sometimes he is elusive and unknowable.

The result is a rare kind of exhibition: part memorial, part conversation, part inheritance. Two bodies of work, made decades apart, in dialogue.
